Description

Rickenbacker Guitars – Out of the Frying Pan into the Fireglo
John Hall edition

In early 2022 Phantom Books were invited to stage an exhibition to celebrate the release of ‘Rickenbacker Guitars – Out of the Frying Pan Into the Fireglo’ at Shapero Rare Books in New Bond Street, London. To commemorate the event – which ran between March 18th and April 1st – Shapero commissioned a special edition of the book endorsed by and named in honour of Rickenbacker CEO John Hall containing unique artefacts from the company archive.

Limited to just 26 copies worldwide – individually cataloged A-Z – the John Hall edition is set to become one of the most collectable guitar titles ever published.

Each edition is personally signed by John Hall and the authors and contains the following:

Newly designed outer box, label and embossed slip case which have been specially hand made for this edition.
A hard back copy of the book plus an additional 160 page soft back of Rickenbacker catalog reprints spanning the era 1933-1968.
An embossed black card wallet featuring a foiled white Rickenbacker logo containing a signed and numbered C-Print of George Harrisons December 1963 360/12-string by photographer Paul Kelly.

The wallet also contains 4 authentic items from the Rickenbacker official archive including:

• A 1950s/1960s black and white 10 x 8 ‘promo’ print (a different image with each set) plus new old stock promotional items including;
• A  genuine 1968 full line catalog designed by John Hall during his time studying art at the University of California Irvine
• A 1958 model 365 Capri postcard
• a 1968 Rickenbacker  ‘Flower Power’ promotional sticker

Each set also includes three fold out posters; one depicting every surviving Beatles Rickenbacker, another showcasing six of Paul Weller’s 330 guitars used during his time fronting The Jam plus a perfect recreation of a 1964 Rose-Morris era in-store poster measuring 21 x 13 inches.

Every copy of the John Hall edition is also supported by a personally hand-signed letter from Mr Hall and supplied with a soft back ‘reader’ edition of the book.

With most copies sold during the Shapero exhibit we are offering a final opportunity to purchase a unique collectable that celebrates one of the most icon electric guitar manufacturers of all time. There are very few copies left so if interested please order soon to avoid disappointment.
